Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
There is an original tooled leather writing surface in the middle, which does have old marks on it, but is in keeping with the general look.

There are three drawers along the middle, with locks & original brass handles. All the drawers, top & bottom have burr walnut fronts with herringbone satinwood inlaid edges. They all have very fine dovetails & solid mahogany drawer bottoms.

The burr walnut veneers are beautifully patterned all over & there are satinwood shell inlaid motifs in many places.
This desk sits on strong tapered legs with brass capped casters. The back & sides are figured walnut.

I would date this desk to around the 1910-20’s period & I think it must have been a commissioned piece for someone important. The attention to detail & the quality is amazing.
