Description

A stunning small early Tunbridgeware box veneered in Coromandel and with boxwood stringing to the edges.

The top is an absolute joy with all over parquetry inlay in a variety of highly decorative timbers.

The interior has been more recently re-lined in a fine hand-marbled paper, creating an attractive clean and fresh interior, ready for use.

The box comes complete with a working tasseled key. The box remains in excellent condition with a wonderful glossy patina to showcase the woods. A very slight warp to the lid on the right-hand side, mentioned purely for accuracy. English c.1820, nearly 200 years old.
