Edwardian 8.24 Carat Natural Ceylon Yellow Sapphire Pendant, Circa 1910

Description

A staggeringly gorgeous antique sapphire pendant. At the heart of the piece is a bright, lemony yellow sapphire – certified as natural and unheated, originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The stone is rubover set in milgrained platinum, and hangs within a strikingly detailed border comprising of eight high colour old European cut diamonds interspaced with rose cut diamond-set “leaves.” A diamond set bow tops the pendant, which hangs from a diamond-set bale.

Included is the original platinum trace chain, measuring 17 inches (44cm).

Presented with the original fitted tooled leather box (Tessier, New Bond Street).

Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.

Cut – Cushion cut sapphire with old European cut and rose cut diamonds.

Colour – The diamonds are G to H.

Clarity – The sapphire is SI. The diamonds are VS2 to SI1.

Carat – The sapphire is a known 8.24 carat, with approximately 0.90 carat of diamonds.

Circa – 1910.

Measurements – The sapphire is 12.01 x 10.21mm. The pendant, not including the bale, is 31.5 x 26.9mm.

Weight – Total weight, including the chain, is 11.5 grams.

Metal – Platinum. French hallmarks.
