Description
This gorgeous and rather unusual Edwardian silver and opalescent glass cologne bottle was made by the celebrated William Comyns and is dated London 1909. The pale lilac opaline pressed glass body of baluster form. The lobed body decorated with gilt motifs and enamel flower heads and raised on a pedestal foot. The hinged silver lid embossed with a classical scene. The neck fitted with the original opaline glass stopper. the inner lid with a rich gilt wash. Hallmarks: WC for William Comyns. London Assay Mark. Lion Passant. Date letter "o" for 1909. Dimensions: Height: 13cm / 2.2 inches. Maximum Diameter: 9cm / 3.4 inches. Base diameter: 6cm /2.3 inches. Condition: Very good.
