Antique Swedish Satin Birch Biedermeier Sofa

Description

Large impressive antique Satin Birch Biedermeier sofa, which has just been re-upholstered in our regular natural cotton fabric. I would date it to around the 1850’s period & it’s in excellent condition throughout.

This sofa has just come over from Sweden & has been French polished. The wood is a lovely blond colour. The sides are panelled & the top pediment on the well shaped back is very pronounced. The back of this sofa is also upholstered, although the frame is stained pine. These flat back sofas were generally designed to sit against a wall.

This is a great looking piece of furniture & very stylish.

Width – 94 inches, 238 cm

Depth – 28 inches, 71 cm

Height – 46 inches, 118 cm

Seat height – 19 inches, 49 cm
