This is an antique coffer. A French, oak window seat or storage bench, dating to the late 17th century, circa 1700.

Wonderfully antique piece of furniture

Displays a desirable aged patina - expected historical signs of age including old wormholes long since waxed-in

Select oak shows fine grain interest and mellow russet hues

Profusely carved throughout adding decorative touches

Bench shaped top offers a useful seating option

Ideal beneath a large window with generous linen or blanket storage

3 plank top lifts off, or hinges up to reveal the coffer interior

Candle box to the left side with opening cover

Quartet of field panels to the front fascia with carved patera and star motif

Beaded detail decorates the upper and lower aprons

Box section supports with shaped surmount over large flower carvings

Standing upon wide stile feet to each corner

This is a superb antique coffer, in delightfully aged French oak. The generous size offers useful storage options and the bench form is ideal for use beneath a large window or at the end of a king size bed. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
