Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

The wooden & the brass handles are all original. Inside the cylinder top are two long compartments & a row of pigeon holes. The writing surface pulls out to create plenty of work space & there are two leather surfaces, which look original to me. There are four drawers on the right hand pedestal, which are all graduated in depth & there is one drawer in the middle. The left hand pedestal has four dummy drawers on a cupboard door & there is one shelf inside.

There are grooves running down on either side of the cylinder & I believe there are casters under the plinth bases.
Please enlarge all the images to see the lovely figuring in the mahogany & also check the sizes, because this isn’t one of those heavy oversize models.
I would date this desk to around the 1860-80’s period.
