Andros Antiques has dated this Continental Marquetry Commode Chest to the 19th Century.

Substantial front legs help to give the piece a sense of solidity, to show that it is made for use and practicality. The paneled Tulipwood areas are framed by contrasting veneers, with a geometric pattern running around the top half of the Commode.

The grey marble top adds a degree of practicality to the piece and is in itself beautifully shaped to match the carcase. The ormolu mounts, handles and decorative escutcheons also contribute to the overall appearance. Sure to make a statement wherever it is placed in the home, as it is both eye catching and very useful.
