Brooches are the ultimate accessory for adding a touch of elegance to a designer dress or classical outfit.
Art deco began in Europe, particularly Paris, in the early years of the 20th century, but didn't really take hold until after World War I. It reigned until the outbreak of World War II.
In this period women threw off their corsets and tight clothes and became daring flappers - "young things with a splendid talent for life" (F.Scott Fitzgerald).
The simplicity of the dresses of the day meant they could be dressed up with long strands of beads. Brooches and dress clips were worn on everyday clothes, not just for the evening, and they could be clipped onto hats, shoes, collars or coat lapels.
The brooch measures 3.1cm wide.x1.8cm
The sapphire spreads 7mm. with12 diamonds around the sapphire, 8 diamonds measures 2mm each with 4 smaller ones..
The larger 2 diamonds either side approx. 3mm.
36 diamonds surround the brooch approx. 1mm each.
weight 9.2g
TOTAL DIAMOND content 2cts. approx. SAPPHIRE SPREADS 1ct.
