Antique Victorian Aesthetic Ebonised and Gilt Davenport Desk and dating f on around 1890. It has a gilt fretwork gallery to the back with original faux leather writing slope set within ebonised and gilt edged surround . The slope slides forward allowing for the letter rack to ‘ pop’ up and reveals various compartments with ebony pen tray and original ink wells and to each side of the desk is a sliding pen tray. Beneath the writing slope is a false gilt edged drawer front and on beautifully scrolled supports. It has a moulded gilt edged panel to each side , one of which is a door which opens to reveal four mahogany drawers with original turned knob handles. It is raised on a shaped platform on bun feet.
