Description

Late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved ‘hongmu’ and ‘mother-of-pearl’ inlaid barrel or drum-shaped table .

Finely-made Chinese nacre-shell inlaid carved hardwood table of drum form with inset circular rouge marble top . The open-work carved and shaped sides of cross-over form with a central ‘tied knot’ or boss. The curved and shaped barrel sides with profuse and skilfully inlaid ‘mother-of-pearl’ shell decoration.

The top edge inlaid with ‘mother-of-pearl’ shell stud decoration . The inset top of a well-selected pink variegated rouge marble.

Raised on small ogee-section shaped feet .

In excellent original condition with no damage or losses to the inlay . Has achieved a rich consistent patination and colour .
