I think this is one of the most elegant walking sticks we've ever had.
Stunning French snakewood and marked silver walking stick or cane. The engraving is of the highest standard and still remains crisp and clear.
The silver was assayed is marked with the boars head fitness mark for 800 quality silver and the makers diamond mark with LP and a stick symbol for Lucien Piedscoq, one of the top stick mounters in Paris between 1913 and 1925. The workmanship in the engraving is exceptional.
The snakewood shaft is quite dark in colour with the snake wood pattern showing better in natural light than in the pictures.
It measures 90.5 cm 35 5/8 inches in length, the handle is 11.5 cm 4 1/2 inches wide and 8.9 cm 3 1/2 inches long.
The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel and shows little signs of wear. Small split but this has been stabalised so won't deteriorate.
It's in excellent condition no damage or repairs.
To buy a new snakewood cane with just a silver collar today from a quality cane maker like James Smith of London the cost would be 1950 . Snake wood is now really expensive as it's hard to obtain.
