The top has a large inlaid plaque which complimenting the brass escutcheon to the front which houses a working key.

The interior of the lid has a crushed fabric lining which opens with a portfolio behind for storage of "secret" papers.
The box and tray have been re-lined in a combination of a silvered paper together with a hand marbled paper.
Dating to 1820, it remains in excellent condition measuring 11" x 9" x 5". Perfect for a jewellery box or desk-top storage box.
