A stunning pair of late 19thc French solid rosewood frame armchair fauteuils. They date to c1870. The beautiful and richly coloured rosewood frames are hand carved with the flowing sinuous lines typical of the period, with individual carved foliage surmounts at the centre top of the backs and a wider carved foliage frieze at the centre front of the seats, with similar at the corners. They are a matching pair. The seats and backs are generously proportioned. The legs are mounted on brass castors.

The rosewood frames have substantial weight, a lustrous warm colour and patina and are in excellent condition.
