Description

An impressive set of early Victorian brass fire irons dating to c1860. The grip and shaft of each component (shovel, poker and tongs) is formed of a strong spiral, surmounted by a banded finial. The tongs are also embellished by a pair of scalloped discs at the top of each tong, chased with a foliage pattern. The shovel replicates the channelled shape of a shell before widening to form the shovel. An impressive set in overall good condition for their age. There is an old soldered repair at the back of the shovel.
