Description

A wonderful antique English biscuit barrel or cookie jar comprising a stunning and highly decorative cut crystal jar which sits inside a very stylish and unusual silver plated frame made by Thomas White of Sheffield around 1880, a complete and beautiful Victorian example.

What obviously makes this highly desirable and collectible is the novelty mechanical handle which automatically opens the lid. The lid and base is engraved in a very decorative design complimenting the four cast feet.

Excellent undamaged condition measuring 11" tall to top of frame; 6 7/8" foot to foot; the crystal jar measuring 5 1/4" tall with a lid diameter measuring 4 3/4".
