Early French Engraved Carriage Clock

19th century
Description

A fine quality earlier example of a French strike/repeat/alarm carriage clock by Billiet & Robin of Paris. A gorge variation finely floral engraved case with the original gilded finish. A fine textured silvered dial with subsidiary alarm dial and 'moon' blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell with alarm set. Push button repeating. The original lever escapement. Numbered 1054 and 19552. Circa 1855-60.
