Small Regency Campaign Trunk with London Makers Label

Description

A wonderful small antique Regency campaign/travelling trunk with London makers label. To the top in fantastic period writing is the name F Knight Esquire. It constructed of canvass covered wood and features brass studwork and iron strapwork to the corners and has its original brass lock and hasp. The lid lifts to reveal its original lined interior with a paper makers label for “R. Gill Trunk & Portmanteau maker 22, Coventry St London.” Amongst other things R Gill purports to be able to “make tin cases for India on the shortest notice” and has a side-line in Funerals!
