Lovely little example of the classic late Georgian oak writing bureau c.1790. Just 36" wide. Open the fall to reveal a good sized writing surface (plenty of room for a laptop) and original fitted interior of pigeon holes, six small stationery drawers and a lockable central cupboard with another small drawer inside. Four long drawers of graduated depth below the desk In solid oak throughout, mellowed to a particularly attractive honey colour on the exterior, with mahogany crossbanding to the edges of the fall and the drawer fronts. Cockbeaded drawers with brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. Thumb moulded bead around the base and raised on and tall bracket feet front and rear. Excellent condition with some earlier restorations – note the butterfly tie the to the fall. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
