Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A magnificent George III solid silver Stuffing / Basting Spoon. Wonderful proportions (12 inches long). This superb spoon is beautifully decorated: the bowl is scalloped and has a feathered edge and the terminal is decorated with a neat border. Engraved at the top of the terminal is a Lamb passant (possibly for the ''Francis'' family). The back of the spoon terminal shows the clear hallmarks for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1805 and lion passant indicating sterling silver. The silversmith''s mark is also very clear for Thomas Wilkes Barker.
