Set Of Eight American Arts & Crafts Mission Oak Dining Chairs By Stickley Brothers (8)

A rare set of eight Arts & Crafts Mission quarter-sawn oak dining chairs by Stickley Brothers and dating to circa 1900. Comprising two armchairs and 6 side chairs each with green pad seats with a hammered finish to the studs. With brass Quaint Furniture labels to the underside and some also with additional remnants of oval Stickley Bros paper labels. All joints are tight and they are in good condition. Some knocks to the corners and there is a small tear to the back of the seat of one armchair.
 
The Stickley Brothers Furniture Co was founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the centre of American furniture making, in 1891 by Albert & John George Stickley. The Quaint Furniture brand was introduced c.1900 and sought to combine Arts & Crafts qualities of simplicity, refinement, elegance, comfort, durability and distinctiveness, values which can be seen in these chairs which featured in Plate No.48 of the Quaint Furniture catalogue.
