Early 18th Century Oak Longcase Clock By Blackburn Of Oakham, (county Town Of Rutland)

Currently there are many antique longcase clocks for sale, however this example from the 1730''s is particularly attractive and impressive. The movement with its 10'' silvered brass dial was made by Stephen Blackburn of Oakham and has previously been expertly restored at cost of £ 1014.00 (commissioned and paid for by the clocks previous owner - the receipt is available). So, as would expect, the movement runs well and keeps very good time over an eight day period.
 
The excellent condition of the movement was certainly a factor in its favour when we were considering the purchase of this clock from a local estate. However, it was the case that really grabbed our attention. It has a lovely colour, full grain and really evokes its age and holds the viewers attention.
