A Large Bronzed and Verdigris Plaster Statue by L Maurer Dated 1880

Description

A Large and imposing Bronzed & Verdigris Plaster Statue Entitled Liberte' by L Maurer and dated 1880. From the estate and Belgravia home of Lord Ballyedmond. Standing on an attractive square red and green veined marble plinth. A beautifully executed sculpture of a winged maiden holding aloft a torch while standing on a globe. She is breaking free from her shackles and has a winged dove upon her hand symbolising peace and liberty. The flowing cape wrapped around her is exquistely formed and her wings are finely detailed. The piece has been sympathetically and painstakingly restored. Standing at almost eight feet tall she really makes a fine statement piece and has great provenance coming from Lord Ballyedmonds six storey Georgian town house in Belgravia, London.

The plinth base is 48cm square by 53cm high. The given width of 77cm is across her wingspan. The statue alone measures 190cm in height.
