Country Homes Antiques Stirling has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
An early large work by the french impressionist painter Charles Bichet. He trained in Paris and exhibited at the Salons from 1903. He followed the impressionist style and panted with strong fresh colour as seen here. He painted many works in the Creuse and is closely linked to that school of painters.

Condition: unlined and unrestored – very nice for age
He began teaching drawing in the City of Paris schools at the age of 20 and in 1890 was appointed to teach in the École des Arts Décoratifs in Limoges.
His early style was classical, but in 1903 he followed the Impressionists’ example and began to use clear, vibrant colours, as in Underwood; Bessines Church; Châteauponsac Church.
