Description
A fabulous and unusual ring from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The ring is made from solid 9ct gold and has gorgeous and 'elegant' snakes wrapped around each of the shoulders. The snakes have lovely little heads and their tails are also present on each side. This is a wonderful unusual design and the snakes frame a central sardonyx gem. The ring has the look of a seal, though the top is entirely plain and the whole ring has great finger coverage. Snakes were very fashionable during the Victorian period due to Prince Albert giving Queen Victoria a snake engagement ring. They came to mean eternal love and the presence of two snakes represents two people in love.
