Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1800s.

The front too is inlaid with Mother of pearl and polished pewter stringing, there is a key purely for decoration as it does not turn the lock, the tassel coordinates perfectly with the recently re-lined interior, finished with hand marbled paper.

Two tiny imperfections to mention purely for accuracy - a tiny replacement piece of pearl to the front escutcheon and an old fine hairline to the top - the box has been professionally French polished to create a stunning finish showing off the prized Rosewood grain and Mother of Pearl.
Excellent condition, measuring 12 1/2" x 9" x 5" tall. Perfect as a jewellery box or equally perfect for desk top storage.
