Description

Remarkable mid 19th.c. Anglo-Indian rosewood chiffonier side cabinet c.1850. Raised gallery back with a small shelf over a cabinet with one long drawer and a two door cabinet fitted with a single shelf inside. Back and door panels are decorated with an exceptionally well carved and pierced design of scrolling acanthus leaves, the door panels being backed with pale silk to emphasise the detail. Note how the shelf supports are also carved as acanthus leaves. Further carved detail to the drawer front and sides and nicely turned half columns flanking the doors. Raised on turned bun feet front and rear. Exceptional quality in solid (rather than veneered) Indian rosewood, including the shelf, drawer linings and back backboards. Original Brahma patent locks. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
