Late 19th.c. Walnut Coal Scuttle C.1880.

Description

Late 19th.c. walnut coal scuttle c.1880. Originally intended for coals, it would also make an ideal box to hold kindling, fire lighters etc for beside a log burner. Sturdy little box in walnut with a hinged front and removable metal liner. Complete with original brass shovel which fits into a metal holder on the rear. Splendid Gothic style brass handle and large pierced brass strap hinges and mounts at the corners. Note also the lovely Tunbridge ware style inlaid edge to the sides. Excellent condition and lovely mellow colour.
