A 19th Century Country Fireback.

Description

A 19th century country fireback with a hunting theme.

The fireback is dated 1601 and is decorated with hunting dogs, smoking pipes, a sheep, eagle and a lion at the very top.

The cast iron does have a large crack at the bottom with a piece missing, commensurate with age. The surface has a lovely crusty patina and would look fantastic in a period fireplace.
