Superb George III Campaign Writing Slope

18th century
Description

A superb George III campaign chest in rosewood veneered oak carcase with the top being of solid rosewood. Decorated with foliate brass inlay made by the manufacturer of the chest, J Gallery - Cabinet Maker. There is additional heavy brass stringing inlays together with reinforced corners and base whilst the sides have flush fitting lift handles. The interior is fitted with quality 'T' hinges and lock. The rear of both falls have criss cross tapes with the lower fall having the makers details thereon. There are three secret drawers in solid rosewood having a rare release mechanism. The criss cross tapes and leather skiver are replacements. A lovely piece of furniture Circa 1810, an excellent large size.
