Month Duration Regulator Longcase Clock Lakin of Tamworth

Description

A rare, month duration domestic regulator longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers of pale colour. An arched hood pediment with side columns. A double arched trunk door with chamfered sides and to the base. The original ogee bracket feet. A circular painted dial with 5 second regulator markings to the seconds dial. Gilt dial edging and brass outer cast bezel to the glass. Bolt and shutter maintaining power side lever. A large, regulator 6-pillar mechanism with dead beat escapement of month duration with brass weight. A heavy rod pendulum.

William Lakin of Tamworth is recorded in Mc Kenna's 'Clockmakers and Watchmakers of Central England' book as working in Market Street from 1844-1874. He was born in Bosworth, Leics.
