Victorian Gold and Silver Piqué Work Brooch

Description

An absolutely stunning example of Victorian piqué d'or - an intricate decorative technique where gold and/or sterling silver is inlaid into a material such as tortoiseshell.

This brooch is of a striking geometric domed design, beautifully smooth to the touch and nicely lightweight, making it very wearable. Dating from around 1860.

In excellent antique condition. Secures with a C clasp.

The metals are unmarked but have been tested.

Size: Approx 3.7cm diameter, 1.4cm high (not including pin).
