Silver Buren Pocket Watch, Chain and Fob

Silver Buren pocket watch with original chain & fob.

The watch has a lovely clean Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement, signed Buren, which is working nicely.

The movement is protected by an inner dust cover which has a presentation inscription from Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd to S Cole, presented for 25 years' service in 1936.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the hinged case backs for Birmingham 1936 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison. The Dennison Watch Case Company was a prolific manufacturer of cases for various watch makers. The case is in beautiful condition and the engine turned detail to the back of the watch is still nice and crisp. Central vacant cartouche with very light surface marks.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver chain, 31cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is hallmarked for 1922 so already in the owner's possession when he was presented with the watch and fob in 1936. The enamel and silver fob has the same inscription as the pocket watch. It is lovely to see the watch and fob still together after such a long time.

The watch and chain will come in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
