Description

A fine early 18th century and later figured walnut and burr yew veneered chest on stand. The carcass is constructed from pine with applied walnut veneers, the drawers have oak linings with figured walnut and bordered burr yew veneered fronts with boxwood and ebony rope banding and large brass fish tail drop handles.

The chest consists of two drawers over three with a plan drawer at the very top and a large secret drawer cleverly hidden inside above the plan drawer. The base is partly veneered in walnut at the top of the base, with the lower section having finely turned legs and shaped stretchers all of which are solid walnut.

The chest has had some wood worm in the past and some restorations commiserate with age. However the chest has fantastic colour and patination and is in excellent condition.
