Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 17th Century.
The deeply padded seat has been professionally re-upholstered in a high quality thick velvet with a beautiful pomegranate and madder leaf pattern - a William Morris design for which he took inspiration from 17th century and earlier tapestries and furnishings.

The stool is heavy and structurally sound throughout with no later elements and the walnut has developed an excellent rich colour and patination.
An eye catching and high quality late 17th century stool of most attractive proportion and design, robust enough for daily use.
A charming and rare survivor.
