Description

Fabulous quality & stunning looking serpentine shaped ormolu mounted cabinet, with a marble top & loads of marquetry.

There are many different woods involved, especially within the floral marquetry. The main woods are Kingwood, mahogany, satinwood & burr walnut, whilst the floral marquetry is made up of many other exotic woods. I particularly like the convexed panels on the doors, where the marquetry is very intricate. The gilt bronze mounts are all over this cabinet & have wonderful details.

Please enlarge all the images to appreciate the fine details, because it’s impossible to describe them all. I would date this cabinet to around the 1930’s period. The marble top, which is very colourful, is in perfect condition & just lifts off. The inside of cabinet is polished & has three shelves with brass galleries & we also have the key for the lock.
