Art Nouveau Silver Pot Pourri Box by William Comyns, London 1908

1900 - 1920
Description

This delightful Edwardian silver pot pourri box was made by the celebrated William Comyns and is dated London 1908. Pot pourri boxes are very sought-after and this cast silver lidded example is beautiful. Of circular form, the pull off silver lid cast and pierced with sinuous floral designs.

The base embossed with a floral garland, very much in the Art Nouveau manner.

Hallmarks:

WC for William Comyns.

Date letter "n" for 1908.

London Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions and Weight:

Diameter: 8cm / 3 inches.

Height: 3 cm / 1 incc.

Weight: 89 g / 3.1oz.

Condition:

Very good.

Interior a little tarnished, commensurate with age.
