Pollock S. Nisbet was an important Scottish artist born in Edinburgh. He was a pupil of Horatio McCulloch and became a landscape, coastal and architectural painter.
He travelled widely in Europe and North Africa.

He was elected to full membership of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1881and associate membership of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1892.

He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Watercolour Painters, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Aberdeen Artists Society, the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.

His biographical information can be found in Christopher Wood's Dictionary of Victorian Painters, The Dictionary of Scottish Painters and the Dictionary of British Artists.

Condition:
Painting is in good stable condition commensurate with its age.
Presented in a decorative mid 20th century swept gilt frame which is in good condition with a slight crack in the plaster on two of the corners. This is commensurate with its age.
