Antique Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A Cheshire Georgian longcase clock with a swan neck hood pediment. Fluted brass capped hood columns. An oak case with mahogany crossbanding. Fluted trunk side columns and a re-entrant base panel. A rarer dial with central date hand. Very attractive floral decorations with raised giltwork and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell with internal strikewheel. Hour bell striking.

Thomas Richardson of Weaverham is recorded in Baillies' 'Clockmakers and Watchmakers of The World' book as working in 1795.
