Antique English Walnut Jewelry Box - Bevelled Glass Doors C.1890

Description

A fabulous Victorian Jewellery box dating to the late 19th century, around 1880 / 1890 with a gentle domed top with flush polished brass carrying handle.

Made from warm and highly decorative Walnut the box is in superb condition with a complete original interior having been superbly preserved for the last 120 years. The lid opens to reveal a fitted jewellery lined in silk and velvet. Down each side are ring holders and a central compartment for a pocket watch, perfect today for a wristwatch or bracelet. The interior of the lid is beautifully tufted in silk.

The doors are fitted with thick bevelled glass with two drawers behind again lined with green silk. All of the brass fittings have been professionally re-polished including the hinges, lock and escutcheon; all gleam to perfection.

A real gem, in excellent condition and complete with working key, measuring 9" x 6" x 7 1/2" tall.
