Warry, Clifton, Bristol High Quality Fusee Dial Wall Clock

Description

A rare and very high quality dead beat escapement, maintaining power fusee wall clock. A well carved decorative case to the 12" painted dial with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism with dead beat escapement, maintaining power and heavy pendulum. Circa 1845.

John Warry of Bristol is recorded in A J Moores' 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working from 1830-1850. He maintained the church clock at St Mary Redcliffe. This example due to it's very high quality mechanism is likely to have ben in a public place and has never had a brass bezel and glass.
