A William IV / early Victorian miniature terrestrial globe by George Philip & Son, 1831 – 46.
The stand is probably an addition so it could be used as a desk globe rather that the original use as a pocket globe.?
The 2,3/4” or 7cm globe made of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, inscribed
G.PHILIP & SON Publishers 32 Fleet St, London and 51 South Castle St, Liverpool.
Dating the globe;
Tasmania labelled Van Dieman’s Land (pre 1846)
showing discovery of Endrby’s Land in Antarctic, (post 1831-33)
1845 Florida and Texas admitted to the union as states; on the globe Flor(id)a is separately marked not incorporated into North United America States, Texas does not appear only N. Mexico and Anstin is marked.
The globe with updated makers label applied over the original gore label, probably to correspond with the opening of the new London premises in 1851, (according to Grace’s guide to British industrial History). This leads me to believe that this globe was existin

The plaster core globe with iron axis pins mounted in a brass half meridian frame on a turned mahogany stand.
All in very good, un restored condition.
The globe with no sign of having had a varnished surface, showing only insignificant brown stain marks and scuffs to the surface.
