A Fine Pair of Grand Tour French 19th C Neoclassical Bronze Urns

This superb pair of late 19th century French bronze urns are most elaborate and finely detailed. They have a flared neck with foliate casting and a beaded collar. The bulbous bodies have a graduated reeded design at the top from which a pair of foliate scrolled handles connect to the rim. Below there is a continuous broad central panel decorated with neoclassical figures performing music and literature. The lower section narrows and is decorated with cast leaves which radiate from the narrow stem which has reeded and fluted decoration flowing out to the flared moulded and beaded foot.
