In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Originally a work table, the top is not fixed and is reversible allowing for one side to be used for preparation and the other to be used for eating. This has given each side a different patina with one being dark and polished and the other being drier and lighter.
The table is a good size and comfortably seats 4-6 people. It is a sensible sitting height with a comfortable leg clearance of 24" (61cm) all around.
The table has a lot of character and the patination and wear on the top is lovely and both sides have an attractive warm colour. There are plenty of signs of age and use, some old repairs, general marks and knocks and splits. There are lots of signs of old woodworm in the top and the legs which has all been treated as a precaution and it is a solid and sturdy table.
