In the case of this particular piece, it would most likely have been placed near the front door of a house, maybe the hall, storing important possessions that could easily be moved, in case of fire. It is also known as a fire safe cupboard.
This campaign cupboard has the original carrying handles at each end. Its cupboard doors have very attractive panels and working locks and key. Inside each cupboard is a single shelf.
These “stackable” cupboards, are excellent pieces of furniture if your property is difficult to access, ie.flat or difficult stairway.
