Antique Georgian Period Carved Oak Bureau Bookcase C1780

Antique Georgian Period Carved Oak Bureau Bookcase and dating from around the time of George 111 c1780. Constructed from solid oak it has a cornice top above two carved and panelled doors with brass lock escutcheon and handle. Internally there are two adjustable shelves. The base has a carved fall front with brass lock escutcheon and finger loop ( to pull the fall front down with ease). Internally there are assorted pigeon holes and letter racks with four small drawers. This is above four long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with carved fronts and original brass handles . It is moulded to the base and is raised on bracket feet. The top removes from the base for ease of transporting.

MEASURES: 78” HIGH X 20.5” DEEP X 46” WIDE AND INTERNAL DEPTH TO BOOKCASE 8.5”

With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
