A Large and impressive original antique French Baroque clock set, beautifully made in gilt bronze.
The front of the clock is modelled as a niche embedded in the overgrown foliage with fret work to the sides to allow a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within the case.

Candelabra are conforming in style with 5 branches formed as foliage. The set has it's original snuffers which stow in the central nozzles when not in use. The dial is porcelain on copper with a bronze centre and it's original blued steel hands. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The Antique French movement is by Japy Frères and is of of excellent quality. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes half-hourly on a bell. It has been fully restored in our workshop and is on excellent clean and running condition. The pendulum is a replacement. We have a video of the clock running, please ask for a link.

Condition of the case is excellent, gilding is bright with a clean finish, there is some very minor wear and discolouration in places. The candelabra are slightly distorted and one nozzle has an old repair. One front foot has a slight twist, possibly from new. The dial is also in good condition, there is a small chip near the right hand winding hole and some faint hairlines. The glass has a small chip to the edge of the glass.
