Pair Carved Walnut Armchairs with Tapestry Covers C.1920.

Description

Good looking pair of large Louis XIV style open armchairs with tapestry covers. Carved walnut frames with unusual gold painted detail. Curving arms with scrolling acanthus leaf detail at the tops and terminals raised on shaped supports. Turned and carved legs front and rear joined with curving crossed stretchers with a turned finial at the centre. Padded backrest and sprung seat upholstered with tapestry covers featuring two finely woven illustrations of courtly couples in 17th.c. style dress. With Large pointed steel studs and tassel braid. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
