Description

A really pretty early 19th century Regency period SEWING BOX which unusually is of finest quality kingwood.

The shaped box itself is of lovely 'warm' colour and features a shaped brass cartouche to the lid and beading around two leading edges. It opens to reveal the original bright gold silk lining, with set of five Mother-of-Pearl cotton reels; pad of various tools and implements; tape measure and pair of ivory thimbles.

In the lid is a silk-lined pouch (for patterns etc?) with its original steel catch and various additional sewing items are to be found within the compartment below the lift-out tray. A charming sewing box. 9.5ins wide.
