A fine George III eight-day striking mahogany bracket clock with trip repeat and silvered dial, by Dwerrihouse Carter & Son of Berkeley Square London, circa 1808-1815.
 
The eight-day twin fuse movement with trip repeat mechanism strikes on a bell and keeps fantastic time. The brass backplate is inscribed ''Dwerrihouse, Carter & Son, Berkeley Square''. Similarly, the silvered brass arched dial is inscribed ''Dwerrihouse, Carter & Son'' and below BERKELEY SQUARE, with rise and fall regulation, ''STRIKE/NON STRIKE'' dials above Roman hour numerals and minute divisions. The original hands are extremely fine and unusual, swimming like eels to a fine tip, they certainly bring the clock to life.
 
The fine figured mahogany case with moulded break-arch pediment is surmounted by a gilt-brass carry handle fitted to a moulded plinth, above brass ball finials, glazed door with a gilt brass internal ovolo moulding and fine stop-fluted brass inlaid canted-corner columns. The sides with pierce...
